By Sean O’Connell Hollywoodnews.com: Joss Whedon is starting to drop hints about “The Avengers,” which will kick off Summer 2012 with (we hope) a bang. We’re still a few months away, so he’s sure to keep a few secrets close to the vest, but a major nugget hit the Web today. We’re interested to see how Whedon juggles the massive personalities involved with putting the Avengers in the same movie. We have Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and the incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) … all fighting for air time. So in order to filter the perspective, EW says Whedon has chosen to view the scope through Captain America’s eyes. “I set out with a very simple problem: There is no reason for these people to be in the same movie,” Whedon explains in an upcoming issue of the magazine. “So that’s what my movie has to be about. So much of the movie takes place from Steve Rogers’ (Chris Evans) perspective, since he’s the guy who just woke up and sees this weird ass world. Everyone else has been living in it.” That’s the way to do it. “Captain America” is the last installment audiences saw before the story line that takes place in “The Avengers,” and we last left Evans standing in the middle of Times Square dealing with this new reality. I imagine “Avengers” will pick up from that point, with Sam Jackson’s Nick Fury introducing the shellshocked hero to modern times … and a new crime-fighting team. “The Avengers” opens in May.
